holiday home
Holiday Home
This serene holiday retreat was designed as a dialogue between the users and the building. The spaces herein flow into each other and give it a sense of blurred territorialities within the home. A place where family can interact beyond boundaries with each other as well as with nature. This outwardly open plan helps to blend the boundaries with its natural surroundings. Natural, local material such as exposed brick and stone give the structure a grounded look. This is topped up with elegant green walls and bamboo pergolas which refine the edges of this rustic structure.

Renovatng Happiness
A 30 year old dream on a 15’ x 20’ site, with memories and attachment isn't an easy job to refurbish. This 30 year old bungalow was in a state which made it structurally strong yet superficially tartered. Working around the existing structural framework we tried to fulfil client’s desires to have a contemporary abode which caters to their burgeoning family. Existing rooms were extended, many skylights added to light up the indoors; as the source of light in the house was just the front facade. A double height staircase with skylight for it's ceiling as well as landing wall is the brightest feature of the house. This along with a cutout from the terrace to the sitout in the ground floor, located in the centre quadrant of the house makes the space well lit and cozy.

First Floor has a double height living space with a beautiful view of the green clad balcony, it is connected to the kitchen cum dining space by a small passage. Guest bedroom and Grandparent’s room are located on the south side of the house with the Master bedroom and son’s room right above it on the second floor which are connected to the Daughters room on the north side and a long balcony on the east facade. This long balcony is the most striking feature of the house which becomes the major source of inviting nature into the living and family space, hence making the abode green as well as fresh.
luxury in a nutshell
Luxury in a nutshell
This building has been designed as a narrative of ideas and thoughts of a higher order, one which aims to dissolve the barriers with which a restricted space is designed and give the house an autonomy in the functionality. The concept of levelled terraces has been implemented such that most spaces in the house open out on to an open terrace, with but just a transition space between the open and the private. This integrated built form expresses the intent of design, which was to create a space which is private yet invite the daylight flooding from above and marrying with the nature that surrounds.

natures craddle
Nature's Craddle
This cozy yet discerning home has been designed to revisit the old vernacular ideologies and planning techniques such as courtyards and an inward looking plan. The facade is a simple yet elegant exposed brick structure, where Porotherm blocks, more environmentally friendly lookalike of bricks - made of mud and fly ash have been used. The exposed bricks are outlined with grey pergolas which act as the framework that hold the green highlights - the creepers and planters. The major concept behind its form and planning is the ”Indian-ness” which strives to invite the nature into the indoors of the structure in such a way that all the common spaces of the house- Living, Dining and kitchen on the ground floor open into the central courtyard “the spine for lighting and ventilation of the house”. There is a free standing staircase on the extreme end of the house which leads to the rooms above. Four private rooms on higher floors overlook onto the central courtyard as well as the rooms on the first floor are also adorned with a long balcony facing the frontside of the house, while the rooms on the second floor are the kids rooms and hence consist of a study instead of the balcony; with a bay window overlooking the front.

Sugar High Bakery
A space which fills the user with joy and excitement, this bakery has been designed with bright colours and bold textures. The intent of this design is to infuse the exhilaration in its users; very similar to the goodies that they purchase at this bakery. The soothing flooring with wooden finish is placed in contrast with the bold pattern of texture and colour made with wooden logs pasted onto the wall. The elating colours of the walls and the stimulating textures on the seating add on as a treat to the senses.
